Desktop App with Citrix (Terminal Services)

The Zipwhip Desktop Application may not operate successfully with Windows Terminal Services (TS) platforms, specifically Citrix XenApp. The Desktop App fails to operate successfully because:
  • Client applications are generally written for a single user. Because Terminal Services in general, and XenApp specifically, are multiuser systems, there can be synchronization problems which prevent the Desktop App from operating successfully.
  • The Desktop App operates with the assumption that some binaries are running with administrator privileges. In XenApp and other TS platforms, a normal user rarely has administrative privileges.
  • Some APIs behave differently in a TS environment than in a client operating system, which can cause programs such as unexpected results from some operating system calls.

Server security settings and/or virus scanners may be adjusted (based on company security policy guidelines and standards) to allow the desktop application to run successfully. Please note, this is specific to server settings, firewall config. as well as administrative settings.

Zipwhip may be added to a "safe list" and/or virus scanners can be set to by-pass the Zipwhip program to successfully run via a terminal server
