How do I use the Switchboard?

Last Updated: Dec 19, 2016 03:36PM PST
You can use the Switchboard to view and open all of your Zipwhip accounts. When you log-in to the Switchboard, you can open any of the accounts to which you are assigned as either an Administrator or Operator.

If you open an account from “inside” the Switchboard, then the account opens in a separate browser window. When the account opens, you can complete any of the tasks your role (Admin or Operator) allows you to complete.

View accounts
In the default Switchboard view, you can quickly see and monitor all of your accounts. You can see which accounts have unread messages and the accounts where administrators/operators are responding to messages. If an account has unread messages, then the number of unread messages appears inside an orange circle on the Account Contact Card.

You can also now toggle the view between a contact card view and a list view.

View account activity
In the default Switchboard view, you can quickly see if an operator is replying to text messages in a specific account. When an operator is replying to incoming messages, then an animated “Typing” indicator appears on the appropriate Account Contact Card.

Resize the Switchboard
When you open the Switchboard, it loads in your current browser-window size. You can resize the Switchboard to conveniently fit in an open visible place on your desktop. If you have many accounts and your browser window is narrow/vertically-oriented, then the Switchboard stacks the Account Contact Cards. You can adjust the Switchboard’s size by clicking and dragging a corner or edge of the browser window.

Filter the Switchboard view
The default view for the Switchboard is to show all of your accounts. However, you can change the view so that only accounts with unread messages are visible. The account with the most unread messages appears on the left side of the top row, or the top card when the Switchboard is resized into a scrollable list. Accounts with no unread messages are listed alphabetically after the accounts with unread messages.

To change the Switchboard account view:
To see all accounts, click All.

To see only accounts with unread messages, click Unread.

You can now filter search options in the "Sort By" drop down menu.

It will allow you to sort by Unread, Name and Number

Search for an account
You can search for a specific account by name or phone number. As you type numbers or letters in the Search box, the account cards that do not match close until only the account card you want remains visible. If there is no match for your search string, then all of the cards close and a “no accounts found” message appears.
